The Grind

A throwdown like
no other

Welcome to The Dairy Grind — a two-day functional-fitness throwdown set on a working dairy farm in the heart of North Cornwall. Raw, rugged, and unforgettable.

Teams of six take on a series of gritty, unconventional events built to test strength, endurance and teamwork — with a few farmyard twists. Expect familiar movements in unfamiliar formats, and plenty of rural grind.

The Events

Gritty. Unconventional.
Farmyard.

Familiar movements in unfamiliar formats — designed to reward grit, teamwork and a willingness to get stuck in. A taste of what's coming:

🚜
Hay Bale Overs

Ground to over the bar — farmyard edition. Heavy, awkward, relentless.

🛞
Tyre Pulls & Flips

Drag it, flip it, repeat. Pure grunt against the Cornish hill.

🏃
Trail Runs

Off the grass and onto the farm tracks — lungs and legs on the line.

🪵
Odd Objects

Sandbags, kegs and whatever the farm provides. Strongman, rural style.

💪
Bodyweight

Classic movements stacked into unfamiliar formats to test the engine.

🐄
...and more rural grind

A few twists you won't see coming. Built to challenge all levels.

Specific movement standards will be released once the workouts are finalised, so every athlete knows exactly what's expected ahead of the weekend.

2025 Throwback

Last year's
WODs

A look at the workouts teams took on at the inaugural Dairy Grind in 2025. The 2026 events will be all-new — but this is exactly the kind of grind to train for.

Man Down

AMRAP 15
  • 15 synchro down-ups
  • Partner carry
  • 20 DB snatches
  • Partner carry

Worked in subteams of three — one subteam works while the other rests.

Ropeadope

3 rounds + AMRAP · 20-min cap
  • Round 1: 20 burpees · 6 rope climbs · 20 worm deadlifts · 30 team skips · 20 worm squats
  • Round 2: 20 burpees · 6 rope climbs · 20 worm S2OH · 30 team skips · 20 worm thrusters
  • Round 3: 20 burpees · 6 rope climbs · 20 worm hang cleans · 30 team skips · 20 worm clean & jerks
  • Then: AMRAP worm thrusters in the time remaining

Squirmy DT

Every 5:00 × 3 · 4:00 work / 1:00 rest
  • 20 synchro burpees over worm
  • 40 synchro wall balls
  • AMRAP in the time remaining: 15 worm deadlifts · 9 worm S2OH · 6 worm thrusters

Two athletes chip the wall balls while four work the burpees; in the remaining time, rack up worm reps with four working and two resting, switching as needed.

We Have Lift Off

Max lift

Time to face the bag. One lift at a time, the weight gets heavier — everyone gets tested, everyone gets challenged. How heavy can you go?

The Team Behind It

Born at
CrossFit Onen

The Dairy Grind is brought to you by the crew at CrossFit Onen — a community gym in Wadebridge, North Cornwall, where getting fit is genuinely good fun and every workout feels like a session with mates.

There are no quick fixes and no gimmicks here, and definitely no intimidation. Coaching meets you where you are, no matter your starting point — everyone's welcome and every level belongs. As the Onen lot like to say, the toughest part is just walking through the door.

That same community spirit is exactly what built The Dairy Grind: a proper, no-nonsense test run by people who love this sport and the people who turn up for it.

FAQ

What are the team requirements?
Teams of 6 — three male and three female athletes.
What standards are required?
The Grind is designed to be inclusive for all abilities. There are no gymnastics movements — workouts use a mix of barbell, dumbbell, sandbag and odd objects. The focus is teamwork, so every challenge is built for all team members to contribute.
What workouts can we expect?
Functional-fitness challenges inspired by farm life — think tyre flips, obstacle courses, running, and unique events like tractor pulls. Expect to be tested on strength, endurance and teamwork.
Is camping available?
Yes — there's on-site camping right by the event field so teams can fully embrace the festival atmosphere. Bring your tents, vans or caravans and camp Friday and Saturday nights, or just the one. There's no electric hookup, but there are toilets and a cold shower to cool off after a tough day.
Will there be food and drink on site?
Yes — there are vendors selling hot food and drinks across the weekend, including a coffee van and a pizza van, plus drinking-water taps and toilets on site.
What's the vibe of the event?
The Dairy Grind is a fitness festival. Expect music, food and drink vendors, and stalls to keep the energy high all weekend.
Can spectators come along?
Absolutely — and spectators go free. Bring the kids and your four-legged friends; day visitors can park on site. The more the merrier.
What should athletes bring?
  • Sportswear for the workouts
  • Warm clothes for the rest of the day
  • Trainers / running shoes
  • Gym gear — lifting belt, knee sleeves, etc.
  • A water bottle
  • Swimwear & a towel (for a post-WOD sauna or a trip to the beach)
  • Tent, sleeping bag, etc. — if you're camping
  • Snacks & drinks (there's a coffee van and a pizza van on site too)
  • A gazebo & chairs to set up your team base
  • Big energy and good vibes!
